There’s something special about walking out to the garden and coming back inside inspired. With lavender blooming in the yard and blueberries in season, I knew I wanted to create something beautiful, nourishing, and just a little bit indulgent — but in a way that supports our bodies and wellness goals.
That’s how these Lavender Blueberry Donuts came to be. 💜🫐
Made with almond flour and naturally sweetened with honey or monk fruit, these donuts are a healthier twist on a classic treat. They’re soft, moist, slightly floral, and bursting with juicy blueberries — perfect for a summer breakfast or afternoon treat.
A soft, floral-sweet donut that’s perfect for breakfast or a wholesome treat. Free of gluten and refined sugar — made with ingredients you can feel good about!
✨ Ingredients:
- 1 cup almond flour (I used Bob’s Red Mill)
- 3 tbsp honey or 1½ tbsp monk fruit sweetener
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp dried lavender
- ½ cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
🧁 Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 300°F and lightly grease a donut pan.
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine almond flour, honey (or monk fruit), eggs, vanilla, and baking soda. Mix until smooth.
- Fold in the dried lavender and blueberries until evenly distributed.
- Spoon the batter into the donut pan, filling each cavity about halfway.
- Bake for 10–15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let cool, then remove gently from the pan.
🫐 Storage Tips:
Store donuts in an airtight container at room temperature or in the fridge for 3–4 days. (If they last that long!)
Why Almond Flour?
Instead of white flour, I used almond flour, which is rich in healthy fats, protein, and fiber. It also gives these donuts a tender, cake-like texture without the blood sugar spike that refined flours and sugars often bring. It’s one of my favorite swaps when baking — especially for gluten-free recipes that actually taste amazing.
Why Lavender?
Lavender is calming, fragrant, and surprisingly delicious in baked goods. It adds a subtle floral note that pairs beautifully with the tart sweetness of blueberries. Just a small amount goes a long way. If you’ve never tried baking with lavender before, this is a gentle and inviting place to start!
Don’t have lavender? No worries — the blueberries can shine on their own in this recipe.
Keeping It Naturally Sweet
Instead of processed white sugar, these donuts are sweetened with either honey or monk fruit — both of which are great alternatives for those looking to reduce inflammation or support blood sugar balance. And yes, these donuts are still so satisfying. You won’t miss the sugar, I promise!
Storing & Enjoying
These donuts keep well in the fridge for several days if stored in an air-tight container. That is… if they last that long! 😉 They’re great with a morning cup of tea, a glass of almond milk, or your favorite bone broth latte.
Faith & Food
As someone who believes deeply in whole-person health — mind, body, and spirit — I love making recipes that are both nourishing and joyful. For me, baking with what God provides from the garden is one of the most peaceful ways to connect with His goodness and creativity.
“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.”
— Psalm 34:8
